Jujutsu Kaisen Announces New Sequel Release For 2027

Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the biggest manga series of all time, and its sales figures speak for themselves. The popularity of the series is so immense that Gege eventually went on to return after the conclusion of the original story, with a new sequel known as Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo ended its run in Japan in Summer 2026, with its final volume being released on May 1, 2026. While Japan had already received all the volume releases of this new sequel, things are very different for the U.S. and other English-speaking countries. Now, however, Jujutsu Kaisen has officially announced the release of the second volume of this sequel, and it is heading fans' way in 2027.

Jujutsu Kaisen Sequel 'Modulo' Is Getting Its English Release in 2027

Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo is a sequel series set in the Jujutsu Kaisen world, 68 years after the events of the Shinjuku Showdown War. This story took us far away from the era we once knew into a brand new time where the alien species of Simurians came into contact with Earthlings. Furthermore, the main characters were switched from Yuji Itadori to the duo of Yuka and Tsurugi, the grandchildren of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin.

Modulo was incredibly exciting from the beginning to the end, and one of the most exciting parts of this new series was the immense combat that it featured. Unfortunately, the run for JJK Modulo was quite short, and it concluded with the release of its 25th chapter on March 8, 2026. By this time, all three volumes of JJK Modulo have already been compiled and gone on sale in Japan, with the final volume being released on May 1, 2026, hitting record sales numbers.

Unfortunately for the U.S. and other English-speaking fans, these volumes are still not available. Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo Volume 1 is set to be released in English on January 5, 2027. This volume release was announced back on June 20, 2026, which just goes to show how far behind the English release is at the moment. Now, on October 24, 2026, Viz Media has officially announced Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo Volume 2's localization, and it is set to be released on April 6, 2027. This means that two-thirds of this sequel series will finally be released officially in English for fans to collect in the first four months of the year. There is one more volume of JJK Modulo, which we are sure will follow in three or four months after. In other words, by Summer 2027, fans can finally complete their JJK Modulo collection in English and enjoy it in physical form.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo has already amassed tremendous sales all over the world, and now, with its English release on the horizon, we can rest assured that this manga is going to grow by the millions when it comes to sales numbers. Modulo's success is down to the incredible character writing and amazing battles that it features, all stemming from Gege Akutami and Yuji Iwasaki. All things considered, this release is going to be exciting, and fans and we cannot wait to get our hands on it.

The Events Of Modulo Volume 2

With Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo Volume 2's release being officially announced, fans might be wondering what events this volume is going to cover. The second volume of Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo largely focuses on the buildup to battles and the conflict between the humans and the Simurians, which takes place in Tokyo after Cross is shot by one of the humans. A duel is announced where the humans choose their representative, and the Simurians choose their own warrior. These warriors are set to clash in Tokyo, and the winner decides the fate of this massive city.

At the same time, this racial tension is taken to the absolute maximum, since the fate of cursed spirits also relies on it. The Simurians choose Dabura as their champion, while the Earthlings turn to Yuka Okkotsu since Yuji Itadori cannot be found. The search for Yuji continues in Modulo Volume 2, but the vast majority of the focus is on the build-up to the battle between Dabura and Yuka. It is this volume of Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo that finally brings to life the immense Mahoraga once again in an era set 68 years after Shinjuku Showdown. In other words, Mahoraga's clash with Dabura and the immense powers of the latter are going to be put on display in this second volume of the series.

Modulo Volume 2 also focuses on the flashback of Maru and Cross, which brings to life the brilliant character of Dura. It also shows how these two were shaped while growing up back on the planet of Simuria. Furthermore, it will shed a lot of light on the sibling duo of Yuka and Tsurugi and explore their love for each other before the latter goes on to sacrifice herself in the battle against Dabura. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the fight between Dabura and Mahoraga will not be covered in this volume. This is because Modulo Volume 2 only covers events up to the beginning of this duel. Dabura's evolution in the battle and Mahoraga's adaptation will be covered in the third volume, alongside the return of Yuji Itadori, the beloved protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Modulo Volume 3 Marks The End Of The Story And Ushers A New Era

While Modulo Volume 2, which is set to be released in April 2027, is going to include some of the most amazing character development moments, the battles are going to heat up in the final volume, which is what most fans are excited for. The last volume will see the conclusion of Dabura Vs Mahoraga, as well as Maru Vs Tsurugi. At the same time, it will pave the way for the return of Yuji Itadori, see him fight against Cursed Spirits, interact with Maru, and finally take into his own hands the fate of Cursed Spirits and Japanese Sorcerers as a whole.

In Modulo Volume 3, Yuji Itadori decides to eliminate Cursed Spirits from the future generation of Japanese sorcerers forever, thus changing the world as we know it. Modulo Volume 3 is what we are truly waiting for, but unfortunately, there is no release date for this volume yet. However, given that there are just 3 months between the first two volumes, fans can potentially expect the final volume to be released in July 2027, or before the end of Summer 2027 at the latest. In either case, 2027 will give fans the opportunity to compile the entirety of JJK Modulo and own it in physical form, which we are all eagerly waiting for.
