Apex Legends Season 31, titled 'Cipher', launches November 3 at 10 AM PT with a complete rework of Crypto, and its other headline addition is Strongholds, high-risk loot locations that trigger an alarm when a squad starts opening one.
The season also brings buffs to Revenant and Lifeline and an Akimbo Wingman, per the Season 31 patch breakdown published October 29. Strongholds expand on the existing IMC Armories concept as high-risk spots to raid mid-match.
What is inside a Stronghold
The payoff is squad-wide. The breakdown lists crate weapons, corrupted attachments, and EVO for the entire squad.
The catch is the alarm. Opening a Stronghold takes time and triggers an alarm, so a squad has to commit to the raid.
The rest of the Cipher patch
Crypto headlines the season. His drone switches to a battery system so it can be retrieved and redeployed without long waits, gains a Sentry Mode that automatically tags enemies in its line of sight for teammates, and his EMP Ultimate now fires with a single button press. The stated aim is a more aggressive Crypto who gathers information without spending as long sitting back and controlling his drone.
The Akimbo Wingman adds burst-fire potential to the precision revolver, Revenant gets shorter cooldowns with upgrades that extend his Ultimate on every knockdown, and Lifeline gets a shorter cooldown on her D.O.C. healing drone, can heal herself while gliding, and her Revive Shield returns as an upgrade. Respawn is revisiting older mechanics and its existing roster rather than relying entirely on new content.
Season 31 'Cipher' goes live November 3 at 10 AM PT across Apex Legends, which is free to play on Steam, PlayStation and the Epic Games Store.
